BREAKING: ND Foods to close this weekend
Britton Road stalwart closing up shop after 30 years in the 405 diningscape
ND Foods, a lunch and take-out mainstay for three decades on Oklahoma City’s north side, will close for good this weekend.
The announcement made on social media read: “This Memorial Day, we will open our doors for the last time. If you want that favorite cake or pie one more time, you can order it and pick up now through Monday.”
The N and D are mother-son owners Nicholas and Deloris Wade. They originally opened at NW 50th and Western Avenue in 1994. There they established the business on a foundation of comfort food classics, deli sandwiches, casseroles, cakes, cookies and pies. ND Foods operated at 50th and Western until 2008. That was the year the business moved to Britton Plaza where the Wades could combine the restaurant with their other business passion: Antiques.
They used their 10,000 square feet to sell meatloaf and Strawberry cake as well as furniture, artwork and clothing. Deloris’s history as an interior designer helped her grow a worldwide antiques trading business she and Nick have operated for years.
Deloris came to Oklahoma with her late husband Richard in the late 1950s following medical school in Chicago. Besides antiques and comfort food, Deloris is also a real estate investor. She and Nick also operated catering services out of ND Foods.
The announcement ended: “As we say goodbye, we invite you to visit us one last time to enjoy your favorite dishes and pick up a cake to celebrate the wonderful journey we’ve all shared. Thank you, Oklahoma City, for embracing us with open arms and making us a part of your lives. We will cherish these memories forever.”
Monday will be the last day of service.
