BULLETIN: Legends of Ludivine will sling drinks Tuesday
The Bar at Ludivine brings back barkeepers as part of its long goodbye
The Bar at Ludivine will have some guest bartenders to help prepare it for its ride across the River Styx. On Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 6 to midnight founding bartender Kyle Fleischfresser and the dynamic duo that followed him, Chris Barrett and Colby Poulin, will sling drinks there.
Fleischfresser confirmed that he and the two bartenders who followed him will help Ludivine say farewell with a celebration of the soon-departing restaurant and the bar program that made balance and precision to local libations. Rest assured, the Legends of Ludivine event will include a bevy of beverages from days of yore, and no doubt the bone-marrow-luge flow will reach flood levels.
Fleischfresser was the original bartender at Ludivine when it opened at 7th and Hudson in 2010. Kyle’s obsession with cocktail technique and culture positioned Ludivine as a pioneer in craft cocktails.
After he left, Chris Barrett and Colby Poulin spend the next four years graduating The Bar at Ludivine to the next level with weekly midnight toasts, creative cocktail theme. Who among Ludivine devotees can forget the spring 2016 cocktail menu inspired by The Beatles, specifically the 50th anniversary of Revolver’s release.
Fleischfresser is now managing partner at The Hutch on Avondale while Barrett and Poulin founded A Clockwork Pour.
We’ll see you from six to midnight on Tuesday.
Francis Tuttle Students ready to show off their wares
Did you know the culinary students at Francis Tuttle School of Culinary Arts have edible gifts for you to give to the foodie on your list? In fact, they’ve partnered with students from the Carpentry and Cabinetry programs to create an oversized gingerbread house using individual gingerbread bricks.
The grand gingerbread domicile was constructed to celebrate the culinary program’s winter market, which is stocked with student-made carryout meals, pastries, candy, hot drinks, soups, salsas and sauces.
If you want some snacks or a selfie with a big gingerbread house, head to the Rockwell Campus, 12777 N Rockwell Ave., and go to the Cravings snack bar on the west side of campus. The operation started today and will be back on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and again from 1 to 3 p.m.
