Thanks, Easter Bunny!
Good weather opens the door to more than hunting eggs and stuffing baskets
With the spring we were promised scheduled to make an appearance this weekend, it’s clear Peter Cottontail still has some pull. Kudos, my Easter Bunny.
Temperatures in the 70s will make for prime Easter Egg hunting, but it will also clear the way for some other food-&-drink-centric fun.
One Lively Four-Year-Old
Four years ago, Lively Beerworks was born and it’s helped raise Oklahoma’s craft-brewing standards ever since. To celebrate, the downtown tasting room will host a weekend of festivities and raise awareness and resources for two local nonprofits.
They actually get started Thursday night when chef Chris McKenna cooks his famous “Piggy Burgers” from 5 to 8 p.m. There is no cover to drop by the tasting room at 815 SW 2nd Street, and this weekend it will host music, food, games and giveaways. They’ll also be set up to collect for the TripNKids Easter Egg Hunt at Pitt’s Recreation Center, and Oklahoma Children’s Hospital’s Toy Cart Program. …
On Friday, Lively will have music by Wise Guys from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, the party is noon to 11 p.m. with Husbands performing. Games, giveaways and food trucks are also scheduled.
Scotty doesn’t know how much we miss him
612 will host the 2024 Scotty Irani Cake Walk Bake Off and Easter Bonnet Competition on Saturday morning at 612 NW 29th St. Named for the late and truly great Scotty Irani, who was integral to the annual fundraiser and its teaching kitchen, the event begins at 10 a.m. at the community nonprofit 612.
Scotty taught camp classes to both children and adults for 612 and pretty much anyone who ever asked for a favor. He was a truly charitable soul, and he’s sorely missed. We lost Scotty to cancer two years ago next month, and I can’t believe he wouldn’t be thrilled by the idea of people raising cake slices in his honor over Easter weekend.
The event is free, but tickets will be sold for each round of the cake walk. …
